Comfort Maximized - From New Plants to Air Conditioner Service

December 11, 2015

With colder weather settled in and days that seem like there’s barely any daylight, it can be tough to always feel like your home is a comfortable place to be. That extends far beyond completing annual air conditioner service too, because there are a variety of things you can do to help make your home feel cozy even when your air conditioner is operating at its peak.

Here are a couple that we find very helpful here in Lawrence:

  • Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, could mean quite a bit of air is escaping your home. And, the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is going outside too. There are a host of options that can help you close those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are pretty basic fixes for homeowners to handle themselves.
  • Change your air conditioner filter. This is one of the most critical things you can do to not only increase your air conditioner’s efficiency, but also to help save you on your bills. Plus, you don’t need to have your air conditioner service technician to do it, you can handle it yourself. It’s normally recommended to switch your air conditioner filter every one or two months to get the most out of its capabilities, but some could last even longer.
  • Get plants. Indoor plants can offer a variety of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually pleasing, they could potentially improve your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a variety of toxins that are emitted from a host of common household cleaners, paints and other products.
  • Air conditioner service. This should be something that you’re already handling, but it never hurts to receive a reminder. Having air conditioner service done annually helps you make certain that your air conditioner is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be fixed so your comfort isn’t conceded.

It doesn’t have to feel overwhelming to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 785-269-0465  to hear about any of these suggestions or find out more about air conditioners, our air conditioner service or anything else comfort related.
